You have been reviewing my work and you have enjoyed it. Thanks for the compliment.
That's a great first step. Finding an artist whose work you like is the most determining decision affecting the end result of your project, the cost and how smoothly it will go. As you browse my page think about what features of my work attracts you. Is it my sense of line? My whimsy? My philosophy? My zoo-ophilia?
If you are looking for an artist with a specific project in mind you may be wondering, for example, "Can Jeffrey Cooper make a coffee table for us?" This question means that it is time for our first, no obligation meeting. Please jump over to my registry page and ask me. If your request is out of my scope, I'll tell you. If it is a challenge I would like to take on, then it's time to create a collaborative atmosphere.
Among the topics we will need to resolve early are your budget and your time frame. You undoubtedly would like to know something about my price point. The Photo Gallery indicates prices for several pieces. Because each item, however, is individually designed and made please keep in mind that these prices are for general reference. They are only firm prices if indicated as such.
The earlier you can involve me in your project, the better. From the beginning, the space is designed with the art in mind, and the art is created to enhance the space. If we are to discuss a designed commission I will ask you about the space, the colors, the architecture and the other furnishings. This information will help me recommend size, materials, and sculptural qualities for the design. I'll prepare for you a sketch or a few sketches for your input. At this point you will still be under no obligation.
When you receive the sketches, you'll let me know your thoughts. Do you like them? Which ones, in particular? What would you like done differently? Using your input, I will be able to develop a true design proposal. At this point I will present you with a price and for this I will ask an agreed upon design fee... usually 5%. I will make any modifications you would like with no further design fees. We may go through several rounds of trial and error in the design process, but at the end of this stage you will have detailed drawings and quite possibly a macquette, or model. When we agree upon a price and design, then we can schedule your project. When we have a contract, then I will ask for the next 45% to be paid in advance. In addition to the design, I will take responsibility for production, shipping and installation. The balance will be billable upon final approval.
You may be an individual
contacting me privately, an interior designer, an architect contacting me on
behalf of a client, or a designer working for a large design firm looking for
the art, furniture or sculpture for a major project. I have worked with all of
these successfully and I would be glad to send references.
So, back to the beginning. Did you register?
Would you like to place an order? I hope so, and "Here's to our new partnership!"
