Central to the room is a Russian fireplace. An upstairs landing surrounds it and two sides of the great room, with a staircase coming down. This client saw the balustrade surrounding the landing and coming down the staircase as an artistic opportunity. We replaced the center most balusters on each section with a solid wood panel carved on both sides for complete viewing. Her feng shui expert suggested water themes on each side of the fireplace, for balance. Our series progressed from that motif. On the left of the fireplace is a mangrove swamp with an egret and racoon, and on the right is a cedar swamp with a turtle, snake and other creatures. The series continues with sea creatures, underwater dinosaurs, land dinosaurs, New Hampshire native birds, a grasshopper, morning glories, a Griffin, a white tiger in three poses, and a purple dragon.
