Reading in Autumn
Imagine yourself coming home after a hard day's work. You take off your gloves and put them in the drawer of this table. You contemplate the poem hand written on handmade paper. You admire the beauty of the sculpture, the intricate grain of the lacewood and the gentle curves in the curly cherry veneer. You feel renewed. The carving set below glass is from a painting in the Beijing Museum of Art, by the 13th Century Master Shen Chou. The artist wrote the poem in the corner of the original painting. The relief sculpture is illuminated by track lighting underneath the tabletop. The veneer work on the tabletop is of a sunset, to emphasize the autumn theme.
This piece was in the New Hampshire Furniture Masters Association, NHFMA, annual auction on October 22, but it didn't meet it's reserve. That could be good news for you, because it's still available. You can have the experience I've described every day. Call me. (603) 436 7945
